How it works
We start with a room, and we keep the room alive.
Unwritten by Design works with women in life transitions, from the move from college to a first job, a firing, menopause, or the leap from executive to CEO, through a deliberate, phased model. How we transition matters, and who surrounds us can make an enormous difference in whether we move forward or stay stuck. It begins with a single founding immersion and grows into a community and a set of programs that widen access as they grow.
The model, in three movements
Phase one
The founding immersion
Invitation-only · ~20 to 25 women · curated mix of paying and invited participants
One invitation-only gathering of twenty or so women, personally curated by the founder. Some are paying participants; others are deliberately invited for what they bring to the room. The structure exists to make room for genuine reflection, decisions, relationships, and action, never to fill the days. We prove the experience here, together.
Phase two
The network
Alumni membership · quarterly gatherings · peer spheres · office hours · introductions
Immersion alumni become members of an ongoing community. Quarterly gatherings keep the room alive between immersions. Small peer spheres hold each other to what was decided. Office hours with accomplished women open doors that were closed. Curated introductions are made deliberately, not at random. And members get first access to the immersions that follow.
Phase three
The programs
Premium immersions · memberships · corporate cohorts · executive & founder programs · university partnerships · scholarship access
As the community grows, so do the ways in: premium immersions, annual memberships, corporate-sponsored cohorts, emerging-leader programs, CEO and executive transitions, founder and investor immersions, and university partnerships. A scholarship-funded model opens seats for women early in their careers. Companies pay to send high-potential women; premium executive experiences help subsidize participation for those who otherwise could not afford it.
Experiences & access
Six ways in, one room.
Each immersion is named for the crossing it serves, not the title you hold: chosen beginnings, unchosen upheavals, and the question of what comes after success. Invitation and scholarship seats sit alongside paying ones in every room. Pricing is confirmed per cohort.

How the scholarship is funded
Premium seats open the door for the women who can't yet pay.
A fixed share of every premium seat in The Threshold, The Crossing, and After the Summit cohorts funds a scholarship seat in Beginnings or Starting Over for a woman who could not otherwise afford it. The room is better when it is full of different kinds of women, so the economics are designed to make that possible.
- Roughly one scholarship seat for every four premium seats, reserved each cohort.
- Scholarship seats are application-based and held for women at their first crossings, and in the transitions that chose them.
- Companies and individuals may also sponsor a seat directly.
The spheres
Every woman needs a sphere around her.
A sphere is a shape that surrounds from every direction, and that is the point. Not simply a network. Not simply mentors. A sphere of women who surround you at different moments in your life: some ahead of you, some beside you, some coming behind you, each bringing something different.
How we move through transition is shaped not only by what we know, but by who surrounds us. Women who have gone before us. Women walking beside us. Women who see possibilities we cannot yet see for ourselves, who challenge us, guide us, connect us, and sometimes simply remind us that we do not have to figure everything out alone. Unwritten is about building that sphere: one that changes as we change, grows as we grow, and stays with us long after the immersion ends. Because none of us ever graduates from needing other women.
Membership keeps the sphere alive between immersions: quarterly gatherings, peer spheres, office hours, curated introductions, and first access to the immersions that follow. Membership is confirmed per member.

A note on access
The women who can pay help open the door for the women who can't.
From the start, Unwritten is built so that access widens as it grows. Companies pay to send high-potential women. Premium executive experiences carry a margin that subsidizes participation for women who otherwise could not afford it. A scholarship fund opens seats for women early in their careers. The room is better when it is full of different kinds of women, so the economics are designed to make that possible.
Some of these programs are live today; others are part of the vision we are building toward. If one speaks to where you are, tell us, and we will be honest about what is ready.
What you will leave with
More than a few meaningful days away.
You should leave different than you arrived, not because someone gave you the answer to what comes next, but because you had the space, structure, science, and people around you to begin discovering that answer for yourself.
The experience is grounded in the science of behavioral change, human connection, social support, reflection, and action. But it is equally grounded in something we believe deeply: some of the greatest wisdom in the room will come from the women sitting beside you.
We are not here to prescribe your next chapter.
We are here to help you design the conditions that make it more possible.
When you leave an Unwritten immersion, you will leave with:
Greater clarity about where you are now.
An honest understanding of the transition you are navigating: what is changing, what you may need to let go of, and what you want to carry forward.
A clearer picture of what you want next.
Not necessarily a perfectly defined destination. Sometimes the most important outcome is knowing what you want more of, what you want less of, what matters now, and which possibilities you are ready to explore.
A personal transition plan.
You will translate reflection into action, identifying the decisions, conversations, experiments, boundaries, behaviors, or first moves that can help you begin moving from where you are toward what comes next.
Your first commitments.
Insight alone rarely creates change. You will leave having identified specific actions you will take, when you will take them, and how you will know you are moving forward.
A better understanding of what could get in your way.
We all have patterns, assumptions, fears, habits, and expectations that can keep us attached to what was. You will identify some of your own and begin thinking differently about how you respond when they show up.
Your Sphere.
You will identify the people you need around you for the transition ahead. Some may already be in your life; others may be women you meet through Unwritten. Your Sphere may include someone who challenges you, someone who has navigated what you are facing, someone who opens your thinking, someone who holds you accountable, someone who makes an introduction, and someone who simply reminds you who you are when you forget. And you will leave knowing that you are part of that Sphere for other women too.
A way to stay in motion.
The immersion ends. The work does not. You will leave with a structure for checking your progress, learning from what happens, adjusting your plan, and staying connected to the women who can help you continue moving forward.
Because the goal of Unwritten is not to leave with your entire life figured out.
The goal is to leave knowing yourself better, seeing more possibilities, having a plan for your first steps, and having the right women around you as you take them.
The first word is the hardest to place. Let us sit with it together.
Whether you are considering the founding immersion, the alumni network, or a program for the women at your company, tell us where you are. We read every note ourselves.
